New snowfall map reveals projected totals for region
A new snowfall map from the National Weather Service shows much of the region is in the bull's-eye of a significant winter storm right after Christmas, with up to 6 inches possible in some areas. Snow is expected to begin falling across the region early Friday evening,
The biggest snowfall totals were north and east of New York City, specifically Connecticut and parts of Long Island. This is where the storm primarily performed as expected, with totals of 7-9". Some of the highest snow totals recorded were 9.1" in New Fairfield, Connecticut, and 7.5" in Babylon, New York.
