Top Historic Moments on Instagram: "On the 30th of June 1963, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Montini was crowned Pope Paul VI in St. Peter’s Square, the last papal coronation with a tiara before the ceremony was abolished. Elected on the 21st of June after John XXIII’s death, he wore the triregno tiara donated by Milan during the outdoor rite. Paul VI continued and concluded the Second Vatican Council, which John XXIII had opened in 1962. He presided over its final three sessions from 1963 to 1965.
