A KYRIE AND GLORIA FOR TRINITY SUNDAY Since the tenth century or thereabouts, the Western church has kept the first Sunday after the Day of Pentecost as a festival celebrating the mystery of the triune God, the Three-in-One and One-in-Three: • Ancient of Days, Author, and Rock; • Bread of Life, Vine, and Word; • Comforter, Helper, and Guide. Trinitarian images and patterns of three are woven into the church’s liturgy and song: in greetings, in blessings, and even in those five “ordinary” texts v
