The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) arrived in her new homeport, Sasebo, Japan, Jan. 14. The ship relieves USS Bonhomme Richard as the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. Wasp brings the F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter to the region and will team up with the 31st Marine Expeditionary unit.
