Singapore will introduce mandatory caning as a punishment for scammers, said Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs Sim Ann during the second reading of the Criminal Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill in Parliament. Scammers will get at least six strokes of the cane, and up to 24 strokes for more serious offences. Discretionary caning was also introduced for those who facilitate scams. She assured that genuine victims who were deceived into becoming scam enablers will not be punished under t
