⛰️ Did someone say they needed more syllable mats? Work on open to closed syllables…the most common syllable types! You can shout the vowel’s name down the mountain until the consonant closes it in.This idea was inspired by a video I saw by @kathleengerms, so definitely check out her page and watch her video about this concept! Syllable division with 3 or more syllable words! Just repeat the process! 1. Find and label the first 2 vowels 2. Draw a bridge to connect the vowels 3. Label the consonants between the vowels 4. Divide according to one of these patterns: vc|cv, v|cv, vc|v, v|v 5. Identify the syllable types (open/closed or magic-e) 6. Sound out each syllable using the syllable type to determine the vowel sound REMEMBER: open syllables don’t have a consonant after the vowel so it says it’s NAME (long vowel sound
